After high school I attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD to earn my Bachelor's in Business Administration/Accounting. Before earning my degree started working at a local hotel company in Rapid City for a summer job, but it turned into a multi-year career. Moving from accounting, to management and then on to operations, I stayed with the same hotel company for nearly 21 years. Working with our guests, our community and our team members was an incredibly rewarding experience that I carry with me as a traveler now.
In 2013 I decided it was time to start checking some things off the "bucket list" and to stop postponing things until "someday". I decided to have a gap year, as the English call it, before starting my next career or going into business.
